Salt & Green

An Upper Valley events guide, and a firsthand encounter with the work behind a useful calendar.

Became something else

what’s on?

The problem

“Why should a complete community calendar take so much work?”

The context

A small local events guide Peter created to help people discover what was happening in the Upper Valley.

The technical approach

Find and maintain the date, time, location, host, cost, link and context someone needs to decide whether to attend. Later versions ran on automations Peter built himself, so the calendar could fill without anyone retyping it.

The system or artifact

The illustration on this page is a conceptual sketch. No private implementation artifacts or unsupported project outcomes are published here.

What I learned

Finding an event was not enough. The apparently simple listing depended on a great deal of checking and maintenance.

Where it stands

Part of the earlier work and experience that informs what I’m building now.
